Glimpses of Emotions Time Arts Project
Tuesday, September 9, 2008
So for my time arts class, I was given a project to interpret information. Since I am facing one of the most intense experiences of my life right now-- my first few weeks in college--I decided to document my emotions for two weeks. Of course my emotions can be all over the map, but I chose the most prevalent feeling for the day and recorded it. I wondered if my emotions were noticeable to other people and, if so, whether they might label me by their perception of what kind of person I was at that moment. That gave me the idea of "labeling" , myself--before they had a chance-- with my own feeling. So, for two weeks I scribbled my " emotion of the day" somewhere on my body. I tried to not wash the words off, but sometimes had to retrace them after a shower. It was interesting as I'm sure people wondered why in the world I was scribbling strange words on myself. I also wrote a few words ( on paper) explaining why I felt that emotion or what had triggered it. To further document my feelings, I took a photo of my eye and recorded the day and time. I thought this would also help reflect my emotion as, after all, the eye is the window of the soul.

Black fringe bags are a total must have of the season. They do not have to be necessarily Prada, but just any hobo fringe bag is super cute.

Fashion

The Anna Sui fashion show was amazing! Love her incredible use of leopard, and neutral colors. Anna Sui has always been one of my favorite designers. Her designs are always so fun and eccentric.

I find it ironic that I am always the person people ask love advice from. It always works that I can tell when a person is upset, and of course the problem always has to be some sort of love issue. Was I born to be the next female love guru? When in fact, I am actually lacking in that department? Maybe people can sense I am sympathetic so they think they can spill everything to me. I don't mind at all, in fact it makes me happy to help other people. Maybe its because I don't have any "love" issues, so I can give a new fresh approach.

Music as comfort
Wednesday, September 3, 2008
I realized tonight Alexi Murdoch is one of the best musicians ever. Its been hard adjusting to college, and it seems music is the only comfort I have. I have so many classes,I am starting to feel overwhelmed. Its funny how when everything suddenly changes, and everything you had is suddenly gone, how you can find peace. Its like finding a home in yourself, a familiar person to rely on, when in fact, its yourself. Anyway, I highly recommend Alexi Murdoch, he's incredible!

Time Arts Class
So for my time arts class, I am planning on doing my project based on my body as a canvas. For specified minutes in an hour each day, I will record myself drawing/ painting on my body. I started off with the rings I put on my finger, I took photos of how I would decorate my hands each day. However, it turned out to be my inspiration. I will videotape myself for short increments painting or drawing what I am feeling, almost decorating my body with my inner thoughts and where I put them on my body according to what they were.

Here I come Syracuse University! I have only been here for a week, and have already had all my classes. They seem fun, yet challenging. I have made many new friends and met people from different backgrounds.
